This month our class has been learning all about trees.  The students learned about the life cycle of a tree, seed germination, and parts of the tree or plant.  Students also learned that trees or plants need water, sunlight, and soil to grow.  They have learned that trees give us and animals foods, such as vegetables and fruits, and they also give us air and shelter.  During our class discussions, the students are able to explain and name each part of the tree, what kind of animals live in trees, and what kind of fruits grow in trees. During our nature walk, the students had a chance to see different shapes of leaves and the trees, touch and feel the leaves and the bark, and see the rings on the tree stump.  They learned that when the rings are too thin it means that the tree wasn’t healthy.  Zoey and Abraham measured the big tree trunk with a tape measure and the tree trunk circumference was 60 inches.
