During June, the cheetahs were discussing transitioning into Kindergarten and practicing for graduation. We read books on starting kindergarten so that the children had an insight on what to expect on their first day of kindergarten. Also, we spoke about the different subjects they would be learning about with examples such as learning how to read and write sight words. We also talked about their feelings about going to kindergarten. Some of them said they would be nervous, and some of them said they would feel excited. We explained to them that it is okay to be nervous, but that they had no reason to feel that way. The cheetahs also created a book about their feelings on going to kindergarten in which they drew their feelings and explained to us what their picture was portraying. Another discussion we had was about making friends. The children made friendship handprints with one of their peers in the class. They also made bracelets and discussed ways to make friends. Finally, the children did a fantastic job preparing for graduation. Graduation was such a success! Congratulations Cheetah class of 2019!
