A part of the Cheetah Room’s morning meeting song says “we’re here to work and play”! Therefore, we strive hard to ensure the children not only play but experience “purposeful play.” Since it was Spirit Week, we thought it would be fun to learn about the colors orange and green, so we added a pumpkin in our room. As a class we decided on how to decorate our pumpkins face using shapes and talked about which emotion it would show-happy! Science was included in our lesson as we made predictions on what was on the inside. As we investigated its contents with our senses we made predictions on how many seeds we saw – A LOT! Lastly, we utilized the pumpkin, its colors and contents to help us with counting our numbers 1-10. What a great week we had working and playing!
