The Cheetah Room embraced the word “REUSE” during our current recycling unit. They are learning that not everything goes into the garbage. Within this unit, we incorporated recyclable materials within the centers which enhanced their understanding of the word “REUSE”. The children learned how to apply new vocabulary words- materials, paper, plastic, aluminum, glass, sort, litter, tally. Children have used materials to build towers which helped them understand the terms “big, tall, small”. In addition, they had the opportunity to learn about sorting and tally marks as they counted the number of recyclable items and litter we saw during our community walk. Lastly, the children learned that recycling saves the planet we live on, Earth!
