September is back to school month in the Lion Room! We are learning all about what it means to be in school. One important class lesson we encountered was learning all about rules! We first read the book, David Goes to School by David Shannon. In the story, David is a little boy who somehow is unable to follow the rules in school. However, by the end of the story, he has a better understanding of what rules are and what the consequences are for not following the rules at school. We then as a class created our own class rules chart featuring David! The children were extremely vocal in expressing what rules should be followed in our classroom. We came up with rules such as, “clean up”, “use helping hands”, and, “use kind words”. The children did such a great job creating our class rules chart and now they always refer to it when they need a reminder of what our class rules are.
