Dear Parents,

My name is Denise Fairman  and I am the Director at Tendertots Child Care Center located at 531 East 137th Street, in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. I am a native New Yorker, having grown up on Long Island’s south shore. Jones Beach taught me to love the water, but hate the sand. As soon as I was able, I moved to inland Virginia. It took me 21 years to admit I needed to be back home, nearer to my family. I have settled in Croton-on-Hudson in Westchester, blessed enough to be a short two blocks away from my sister and her family.

Having re-located to Virginia for a job, I found myself in the position to go back to school to pursue the career I wanted. I enrolled in Virginia Commonwealth University where I earned a BS in Psychology and a Master’s of Teaching in Early Elementary Education. While working in Richmond Public Schools as a classroom teacher, Title 1 Resource teacher, and K-12 Mathematics Specialist I was able to earn two Post-Master’s degrees. The first was from the University of Virginia in Mathematics Education Leadership. I then went back to VCU for Educational Leadership. A life-long learner, I have completed my classes and internship through Creighton University toward my Doctor of Education in Interdisciplinary Leadership with a focus on school superintendency.

Over the past few years, I have come to love the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. When I came across the opportunity to work with Tendertots on 137th, I jumped on it. In the short time I have been with Tendertots, I have already come to love the families with which I work. The feeling you get when you see an infant roll over for the first time, or take his first step is incomparable to any other. Watching your little ones grow and learn is a true joy!

Educational Director – Harlem (Sugar Hill) Location

Dear Tender Tots Community,

My name is Tynesia Wright-Capers and I began my journey in education fourteen years ago as an Assistant Teacher.  I have since become a Study Plan teacher, a Certified Lead Teacher and then a Teacher/Site/Educational Director within the Day Care/Head Start/Child Care system.  I am an alumna of The City College of New York, where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and my Masters of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education.  I also graduated from Bank Street College where I received my Masters of Science Degree in Early Childhood Leadership.  I am now looking forward to utilizing my skills and knowledge I have acquired, through school and work, as I join the Tender Tots Child Care and Learning Center community as the Director of the 153rd street site.

My goal is to provide a safe, nurturing and rich learning experience for every child in this program, where they will feel free to be themselves.  Children are very impressionable at this stage and who they become begins from birth.  I believe that having a strong solid foundation is the key to success, so I want to provide a space where children can develop from the inside (socially and emotionally) out, (physically and academically).

I look forward to working with the families and staff of Tender Tots and look forward to seeing the children as they develop into strong minded, socially and emotionally stable individuals with a sense of who they are and confidence in what they know.

Educational Director – Teller Ave. Location

My name is Dinese Sharp and I am a mother of two, who has been in the field of education in both the private and public sector for the past 20 yrs. I possess a Master’s Degree in Education and I am permanently NYS certified by the Department of Education. I believe that childhood education is quite important and that individuals who dedicate their lives to children and their families deserve honor and respect, for I would not be in education today hadn’t it been for such individuals.  I believe that the home school connection is quite important in meeting the needs of the whole child; for a child’s first experience of life outside his/hers home and family unit usually begins in school.

Simply put, I want every child to have a positive, enriching experience, one in which they feel safe, happy and capable. I want my families to have a place they can call their own and really feel fortunate to have selected us with caring for their young child.
