Literacy is an important part of early childhood development. Literacy provides the stepping stones for oral language, print knowledge, and phonological sensitivity as important emergent literacy skills for the development of reading. On October 31, 2014, we celebrated fairy tales and fables. Each classroom chose a different fairy tale or fable. The class read the book, learned about the characters, and meaning behind their selected piece of literature. In addition, the children had the opportunity to dress as one of the characters from their selection.. The children visited the other classrooms, met the other characters, and heard the stories from the other selections.
The children also participated in educational games, created fun snacks , and went on a “Witch’s Broom Hunt!” It was a fun day for the center. Take a look!
